Does anyone buy broken ps2

Set the top off to your right and take out the small screws keeping the lid on the DVD drive. Plus also wait a few minutes until your SMB connection released the handshake.

Removing stubborn dirt usually requires that you use some type of solvent. There are specific CD and DVD cleaning solutions that can help; try them first, as they are least likely to have damaging effects.

If any dirt remains on the disc, dip a soft cloth or cotton ball in isopropyl alcohol or a cleaner designed for optical discs and then gently wipe the soiled areas. But not all PS2 games worked with the software, and often when PS2 games were played on the PS3 machines, the screens would freeze or the system would lock up. I am trying this. I cleaned the inside with 2 Q tips. I put the disk in and it does not do what it is supposed to do. It does not sat playstation 2. It says Sony computer entertainment and just goes to browser and system configuration.

I do not have any Isopropyl alcohol or White Lithium Grease. I tried to clean the laser that is on the inside with a Q tip and rubbed the Q tip on the laser but it seems to have 2 lasers. Any help would be appreciated. Those metal tabs are clips that hold that to the plastic. Thanks cus I found Winback and been wanting to play but this not able to read was getting frustrating, thanks. The wippy worked. Okay so my PS2 plays most games. But then why did I get it to work once?

It worked in 1 of my ps2 slims, the other one not so much luck, and thats cuz its in better condition, then the one it works, got 2 big ps2 as well but one of them has bad connection on AV port internally damaged, its not the wire. I had to do this twice but it totally worked! Thank youuuuu. Hope this video works…. It started to work when I put weight on the top! Thank you! I now need to waist 65 hours of my life….

This actually helped. I pressed down and the clips went back in place. My issue was minor. Just fixed my ps2 watching you. Good tutorial bro! How can i fix the front button please? Any hack for that? Anyone have any idea how to get a disc with no scratches to work? Wanted to go on a nostalgic trip so I bought CoD 3 and the disc is completely fine but it will freeze after it gets to the loading screen.

Love that you pay attention to detail when cleaning these. My employees have a hard time doing that in my retro video game store. It worked when I put the tape over the button in the back, but I noticed that the disc stops spinning on its own after a while of me pushing down the button up front. Is that normal? Also, the disc reading error still came up once I tried actually launching the game on the TV.

Should i just get it cleaned or get another one? Busted out my PS2 to get me through Corona lockdown. This got my games to work seconds after cleaning thanks man! Do it gently. If the beam sensor is stuck at a point it will not read disk. Just push the thing bak far as it will go and it worked for me. No cleaning needed. I screw-drove it apart, hit it with the dust-off, and took a drunk q-tip to the laser assemblage, but no dice unfortunately.

Quick search led to you, and turns out that guide I saw last time around failed to detail the bit about the adjustable white gear. After a dusting, a swabbing, and a meticulous adjusting of said gear, the miraculous occurred and I now have you to thank sir. Now I can dive into nostalgia myself, instead of simply sampling it vicariously. Eventually, it will start detecting PS2 disks again. At first, it may detect the disk, but keep looping back to the browser screen whenever you click on the disk.

Hope this further helps those in similar positions checking out this video. Sorry for any possible confusion. Thanks this worked on my ps2 it needed to be cleaned and adjusted once I did that it worked fine I did not have alcohol so I used window cleaner instead. So I soldered the points together, now when I push the front one down, it kills the power. Any suggestions?? But it reads other games just fine. Should I send it in to get fixed. Thanks this helped fix my ps2 after I took it apart trying to solve the problem of the memort card slot 1 not working.

Bro pls help me When I keep that cd into my ps It loads and spins, but the screen started blinking pls broo help me. So any please help! Ok not the safest way of cleaning and correcting the problem but definitely the fastest, laziest careless way of doing it. You can open the PlayStation console and clean the inside dust with keyboard keys cleaner spray and rub gently the lazer disc reading eye with a q-tip with isopropyl rubbing alcohol.

Thanks for your video! Thanks so much! It screams LOL. Always glad to see more videos out there helping people with system issues. Try to use a non fiber q-tip if possible. There is another lens underneath the eye which often gets pretty dusty. Adjust the white cog a few clicks and test. Repeat until you find the sweet spot. Be sure to mark the original position so you can always go back to the default position. Highly recommend you use an oscilloscope or multi meter set to ohms to measure them.

If nothing else works, you will need a new laser. When putting the screws back on the bottom make sure to put the 4 smaller screws on the right side. I always completely dissemble a PS2 system and wash the parts that can be washed. Yes it takes time, but as you said these system are years old now and have never been cleaned out. That would be like driving a car for 20 years and never cleaning it. Thank you so much! Took 5 minutes out of my day to do it.

No problems. No lag. Removing the switch and applying a solder blob might be time consuming, but definitely the best long term fix. Does anyone else have the problem that their ps2 looks different on the inside?

Mate we looked at your video and laughed at the dumbbell idea. Long story short we placed a dumbbell and it worked. Thank you for making my life great. My PS2 just came in today and after putting 3 disc in that couldnt be read I was getting worried. This article has been and will continue to be updated to reflect current rates, but prices can fluctuate. Additionally, the information provided is based on the models released in the United States.

Models released in other regions may differ from the prices shown below. Note: GameStop is not currently buying PS2 consoles. The price above reflects what the retailer is currently charging for a refurbished unit. With less moving parts on the Slim — thanks to the top-loading disc tray — these units generally have far fewer issues. Additionally, the PS2 Slim is also much quieter than the original while booting up and reading discs, and it tends to overheat less.

Other than that, however, the two consoles are very similar, which is reflected in their pricing. The prices listed above assume you have or are looking for a standard matte black console. Some special editions — such as the rare Astral Blue and Sakura Purple PS2s — can go for hundreds of dollars depending on their condition.

The PS2 Slim sold in a few different colors — ceramic white and silver, most notably. Presumably, this is because they only sell matte black models. GameStop no longer purchases PS2 consoles as of The company is looking to get into retro gaming , so it is possible they could start accepting PS2 trade-ins again — but as of right now, they only sell the console.

Yes, but only in certain locations. Again, GameStop is looking to get into retro gaming and has even started carrying more retro games in their brick and mortar locations. That being said, the number of stores carrying PS2s at the moment are incredibly limited.

Mom-and-pop used game stores are harder to come by than major retailers like GameStop, but they are usually a great place to purchase and sell retro consoles and games. The answer is YES we do buy broken Playstations!

Other companies like Puls will come to you and fix your device at your location. Usually, the cost you pay to get it fixed before you sell will be outweighed by its increase in value.

Something to consider. One of the best places to do that in my experience is Square Trade as the costs are typically pretty reasonable and they cover things like drops and spills:. Another thing to consider is that a lot of credit cards will offer extended warranty protection just for using their card.

For example, I bought a GPS years ago that my credit card added a second year of warranty onto — which came in handy when it stopped working. You might be sitting on hundreds of dollars in savings, just by switching services, or asking for a discount with your current provider. It pays to look around, get quotes at a few different sites, and see what you can get for them.

Another item I found I could get the best return by selling on eBay. All three of the items had no trade-in value when I looked at the popular trade-in sites like Gazelle and NextWorth.

Typically it seems your devices have to be relatively new and popular, like iPads and iPhones. The tablet had come flying out of its case while I was walking through a parking lot, and landed screen down on the asphalt. The screen cracked and the touchscreen was inoperable.

After doing some research I found that there was an active marketplace for repairable items on eBay where people will buy broken electronics and repair them. Not too bad for a broken tablet that would have just sat in a drawer. I got rid of the broken tablet, and someone else gets a DIY project. I looked at a bunch of places to either trade-in or sell my Android cell phone. After using it for a month or two I switched to the free mobile broadband offered via another provider called FreedomPop.

The new device was the exact same device, also using the Sprint network. Freedompop is no longer in business. I have a feeling it will sell for close to what I paid for it. Just goes to show, the sooner you sell something the better off you are. Selling your old electronic devices can mean cash in your pocket. The last item I sold was a newer device and is still being sold new by the mobile network — but since quite a few others popped up in the marketplace, the sales price ended up being lower than hoped.
