Overall, violent crime remains relatively rare around the Katy Trail, according to the statistics Dallas police report annually to the FBI. At miles, the Katy Trail is a formidable distance to tackle. Yet, a few hearty souls have ridden the entire trail in a single day. And no less amazing, some hikers have covered the entire trail on foot.
Locals account for 70 percent of traffic on the Katy Trail each year. The most popular part is the Confluence section, running from Machens to Matson in St. Charles County. The Katy Trail is a mile km trail stretching across most of the state of Missouri. Since this is an old railroad bed, the grades are minimal. Most of the sections we rode had feet of climbing over 50 miles.
Katy Trail State Park has been designed specifically for bicyclists and hikers. It was built as a crushed gravel aggregate hike and bike trail in the late s on the abandoned rail line. On average, a person can cycle between 56 to 60 miles in a day. Or 90 to 96 Kilometers. It might be a little more or a lot less for you. Once I got through that section, the rest of my ride was nothing special. Very nice to get out and shake some dust outta the legs.
You can get 40 on the whole thing if you park a ways off and ride to the station. Nice path. Nice, easy paved trail. Intersections mentioned in other reviews could be bothersome if you're a serious biker racing the clock. No problem for us out on a leisurely 20 mile ride. Will do again. One of the best rail to trail paths I've been on.
Met friendly people and one person rode with us for half the ride. About intersections, they are well marked and waits were short. Surface is best of all. Smooth cement all the way. If there were 6 stars I would have made it 6 stars. Been on 6 states of rail trails, this was one of the best so far. There's numerous street crossings some of which are very busy in terms of automobile traffic where you have to wait for the crossing light, and even then you have to be careful because there's cars turning that will completely not notice you're there and will run you over if you try to cross while the "Walking" sign is green.
It's also not very scenic, you're basically riding past industrial parks, trailer homes, RV parks, and old run-down neighborhoods. I would not recommend this trail!

Denton Katy Rail Trail easy Length This is a nice route for dedicated cyclists and pedestrians with paved lanes between Lewisville and Denton. Multiple street intersections could be bothersome if you're a serious cyclist racing the clock. Please use caution when crossing the street.
Accessibility: There are 3 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of East Hickory Street at the north end of the trail. All of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. There are 5 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of North Garden Ridge Boulevard at the south end of the trail.
